Organisational Culture Conceptualised through Art

Does the internal equal the external?

This project brings together 2 very different domains - that of organisational leadership and culture, and the world of concpetual Art - join us on the journey.  It is an opportunity for organisations, artists, writers, leaders and organisational mapping experts.

What happens when we look beyond what an organisation says it values are — and explore what people actually experience?

Organisations tell the world who they are through their purpose, values, branding and behaviour.

But does the culture projected externally genuinely align with the lived experience of the people within?

And what happens when it does — or when it doesn’t?

Organisational Culture Conceptualised through Art brings together organisations, artists, writers, academics and other disciplines to explore these questions through creative practice. Through artistic interpretation, storytelling and organisational collaboration, the project seeks to make visible the alignment, tension or contradiction between an organisation’s external identity and its internal lived culture.

A different way of seeing organisational culture

Rather than relying solely on surveys, reviews or traditional organisational frameworks, artists are invited to spend time within participating organisations — listening, observing, reflecting and engaging with the people who shape their culture.

The artist then translates those experiences into a conceptual body of work exploring:

Projected values and identity ↔ Lived behaviours and experiences

Art provides a different way to engage with complex ideas. It can reveal what is difficult to articulate, create space for reflection without prescribing an answer, and allow people to engage with challenging questions in their own way and in their own time.

From individual organisations to a collective picture

The project is progressing as a multi-organisation initiative, with participating organisations each contributing a distinct cultural perspective.

The work will ultimately be brought together through public exhibition and broader dissemination, creating opportunities for organisations, their people and the wider community to engage with the ideas and conversations emerging from the project.
